Draper Temple Open House and Dedication Planning Underway

Preparation for Draper Temple Open House and Dedication Underway
President Rodolfo C Franco, of the Draper Utah South Mountain Stake was called earlier this year by the First Presidency as the local coordinator of the Draper Temple Open House/Dedication committee. Subsequently, subcommittee heads were called and they have set up their own committees. A number of meetings have been held and planning is moving forward at a brisk pace. Brother Jan Dalby, of the Draper 15th Ward, has been called to lead the Security Sub-Committee.

Elder William R. Walker of the First Quorum of the Seventy, and the head of the temple department, has met with the local committee and is helping guide the planning of this momentous event. While no official announcement has yet been made, it is anticipated that the dedication and open house will take place sometime in the first quarter of 2009.

Draper Temple Construction Update (as of 11 August 2008)
The statue of the Angel Moroni was set in place on the Draper Temple the 8th of July 2008 signaling the completion of the granite installation. The outside scaffolding has been
totally removed and the beauty and elegance of the building is uncovered to full view. The caulking of the stone is being completed to finish the sealing of the building envelope.

On the inside the work moves on at a steady pace. The basement, which houses the baptistery, is soon to be carpeted. Level 1, with the main entry, is having the fine woodwork installed and the stone floors and baseboards are completed. On Level 2, the ordinance rooms and sealing
room walls are being finished and are receiving multiple coats of paint.

The landscaping is moving forward with many trees and shrubs being planted along the edge of the main property. The gardens and plazas are being surrounded with stone planters that will have beautiful flowers and shrubbery. The walkways of stone and concrete are being set in place.
